Meditation can be described as a method millions of people use to keep their body and mind healthy. It is useful for relieving stress, and for gaining a sense of focus in life.

Ian Dewson Understands Why Weight Loss is Important

As a South Florida professional who is concerned with health, Ian Dewson is quick to tell others about the importance of weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. This is not to say that everyone should be model thin or built like a body builder. A healthy weight will vary for every different individual. For example, a person who is only five feet tall should weigh differently than a person who is over six foot. Age and sex both play parts in a healthy weight scenario as well. Women tend to carry more body fat naturally than men. And as we age, our bodies start to store fat in different ways. It is an epidemic that is affecting every type of person in the country.

Commonly, people who are overweight or obese are prone to illnesses such as diabetes, stroke, coronary heart disease, and hypertension. Also, there are certain cancers, like kidney, breast, and colorectal cancers, that are directly associated with overweight individuals. Obese and overweight people can suffer from gout, sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, and gallbladder disease. There are hundreds of other ailments that are a result of being overweight. Most severely, being overweight or obese leads to a short life span. In effect, being overweight will kill you.

In one year alone, the overweight and obese population in America will spend more than one hundred seventeen billion dollars on medical treatments and pharmaceuticals to fight the ailments caused by their weight. Ian Dewson says, the productivity of these individuals also costs a great deal of money. Dealing with medical issues from obesity and overweight related illness leads to missed work and increased doctor visits.
